clicking and dragging the left hand vertical line further across to the left.

Once the code is entered into the system then access is unrestricted for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for 365 day when the licence expires! During this time work may be repeated, revised and reworked with the results assessed and reports available to be printed at any time.

QUESTION 4: HOW DO I ADJUST THE SPLIT SCREEN?
To make the Teaching Point easier to read, left click on the thin, red horizontal line and drag the screen up or down to suit. Sometimes it is useful to do this to re-read the Teaching Point while answering a question.

QUESTION 5: WHAT IS ADAPTIVE TESTING / WHY DO I GET HARDER QUESTIONS?
Live-wire uses the adaptive testing and learning process. This innovative approach presents you with harder questions as you answer correctly, easier questions if you answer incorrectly.

- A module may be taken several times to gain mastery. At each attempt, you will strike a combination of questions you have met previously and new questions.

- The questions are pitched at the difficulty and skill levels required for Stages 4, 5 and 6. An Achieved = grade C, Merit = grade B, Excellence = grade A. While the question types may differ from those used in external exams, they have been carefully designed to assess the same skills and knowledge needed for the Learning Outcomes.

- The multi-select question type, in particular, provides an idea of the breadth of understanding needed to answer Merit and Excellence questions. The explanations should be read carefully because they contain additional information and explain why items are correct or incorrect.

QUESTION 6: WHAT ARE ACHIEVED-ONLY MODULES?
These are parallel modules that enable you to access easier questions so that you get mastery. Depending on the subject, most Achieved-only modules have 20 questions in the item bank so you can repeat a module several times and encounter new questions. Aim for 10/10, then move on to the modules with the same name to challenge yourself with the Meri and Excellence level questions.
Don't forget to consult the explanations.

QUESTION 7: HOW DO I INTERPRET THE FINAL RESULTS?
When you complete the last question, you will receive a summary like this:
Very good work.
You got 8 out of 10 questions correct. You were working at a Merit level.
Achieved Level questions correctly answered (out of number attempted): 3/10
Merit Level questions correctly answered (out of number attempted): 5/10
Excellence Level questions correctly answered (out of number attempted): 2/10

It is important to note that
1. You were 'working at' the Merit level of difficulty. This does not guarantee that you are 'achieving at' this level.

2. You may be an Achieved level student at school and have done particularly well in this module. Or, you may be an Excellence level student who needs to repeat the module to access the Excellence level questions.

3. The number of questions you scored correctly and the level at which you were working are both important.

QUESTION 8: WHY DO YOU HAVE MULTI-SELECT QUESTIONS?
1. In English, Science and some Maths modules, the multi-select questions provide some variety and more challenge to our questions. When they are used at Achieved and Merit level, we normally indicate how many items you should select. At Excellence level, you have to think more carefully and more critically.

2. This sort of question enables us to test for breadth of understanding in the same way a paragraph answer does. We have designed these questions to imitate what happens in a classroom discussion where a number of ideas are suggested, written up on the whiteboard and then the best ones are selected to be included in the written answer. The Excellence level questions ask you to do the same thing.

QUESTION 9: WHY HAVE MULTI-USE AND SINGLE-USE LICENCES?
1. The multi-use version is for bulk purchases. It means that a school can allow its students to access Frontrunner Learning at school and at home. It allows students who do not have computers at home to benefit from using Frontrunner Learning.

2. The single-use version is for parents or students who buy for use at home.

QUESTION 10: WHAT IF I'VE FOUND A MISTAKE!
We want to know!

1. We've been very careful with proof-reading and editing but oversights occur.
2. If you find one, take a screen shot, save it as a .jpg and email it to editor@livewirelearning.co.nz.

QUESTION 11: CREDIT CARD SECURITY - HOW SAFE IS IT?
Electronic payments through this site are highly secure. Your credit card details are encrypted, so they cannot be read even in the unlikely event of the purchase details being intercepted. Credit card details are not divulged to Live-wire Learning, and are only seen by the payment processing network.
